Video game releases for June 2016

Below are some of the big video game releases for the month of June 2016. Be sure to check out the list we put together of our most anticipated games of 2016. Along with that, here are the free games available with your Xbox Live Gold and PlayStation Plussubscriptions.

JUNE 3:

Dangerous Golf, (PlayStation 4, Windows PC and Xbox One) — It's like Burnout, but with golf balls. Seriously, watch us play it.

JUNE 7:

Mirror's Edge Catalyst, (PlayStation 4, Windows PC and Xbox One) — This reboot/prequel to 2008's Mirror's Edge will delve into Faith's origins and will feature an original song from Chvrches. Here's 30 minutes of gameplay and the launch trailer. Odin Sphere Leifthrasir, (PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4 and PlayStation Vita) — Impossible to pronounce, yet as pretty as you remember. This remake of the beautiful 2007 PlayStation 2 JRPG features vibrant remastered artwork. While you wait, check out the 8-bit browser version.

JUNE 10:

Kirby: Planet Robobot, (Nintendo 3DS) — Kirby in a mech, what else could you want? Oh, yeah, some Amiibo from the Kirby universe will be released on the same day.

JUNE 21:

Mighty No. 9, (Linux, Mac, Nintendo 3DS, Playstation 3, PlayStation 4, Playstation Vita, Wii U, Windows PC, Xbox 360 and Xbox One) — Barring a fourth delay, Comcept's crowdfunded spiritual successor to Mega Man is finally upon us. Keiji Inafune left Capcom five years ago; here's what he's been up to. The Nintendo 3DS and Playstation Vita versions will be released sometime in the future. Let's hope the game is better than the launch trailer.

This is where No Man's Sky should have been. :(

JUNE 24:

Tokyo Mirage Sessions ♯FE, (Wii U) — Nintendo tells us that Atlus' Wii U role-playing game inspired by the Fire Emblem and Shin Megami Tensei series is set in modern-day Tokyo and pairs "shamelessly over-the-top RPG" action with the "adrenaline-fueled fun" of a Japanese pop idol concert. Check out the special edition of the game.

JUNE 28:

Lego Star Wars: The Force Awakens, (Nintendo 3DS, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, PlayStation Vita, Wii U, Windows PC, Xbox 360 and Xbox One) — Can BB-8 possibly be more adorable? Yes, everything is more adorable in Lego form. The game will include adventures not featured in the film, such as Han Solo and Chewbacca's voyage to capture the ravenous Rathtars.

Star Ocean: Integrity and Faithlessness, (PlayStation 4) — Square Enix had a plan to save Star Ocean. While you wait to see how that turned out, check out 70 minutes of gameplay.

Zero Time Dilemma, (Nintendo 3DS, PlayStation Vita and Windows PC) — Kotaru Uchikoshi and Chunsoft's third entry in the Zero Escape series is aiming for more cinematic storytelling featuring fully animated cutscenes rather than the text-driven scenes in previous entries. The Windows PC release of the game will be on June 29. Check out nine minutes of the game.
