The hottest video games at Comic-Con

Gaming at Nerd HQ

Gamers will be able to get their hands on plenty of hot video games at this year’s Comic-Con, both in and out of the convention hall, but if there’s only time for a few, these are the five to choose from.

Battlefield 1

Players can leap into combat from blimps, face off with fearsome tanks and perfect the art of the bayonet in Battlefield 1, set in World War I. The most recent iteration in the hugely popular first-person shooter series is slated to release Oct. 21 for PlayStation 4, XBox One and Microsoft Windows.

Titanfall 2

In Titanfall 2, players take on the role of pilots with the ability to control gigantic, explosive robots called Titans. The fast-paced game will send players hurtling through the air, thanks to the addition of grappling hooks, and into the bellies of six new titans. Developed by Respawn Entertainment, Titanfall 2 is expected to release Oct. 28 for PlayStation 4, XBox One and Microsoft Windows.

Gears of War 4

Journey with J.D. Fenix, son of the legendary Marcus Fenix and Anya Stroud, as he and his friends face another threat to humanity’s survival on the war-torn planet of Sera. Players can charge into battle armed with devastating new weapons like the Buzzkill, which fires ricocheting saw blades. The third-person shooter is expected to release Oct. 11 for XBox One and Microsoft Windows. (Sorry, PlayStation fanboys and girls.)
Where to find it: Queue up for Gears of War 4 at the XBox One booth in Comic-Con’s exhibition hall or at NerdHQ 2016.

Resident Evil 7: Biohazard

Although players won’t get to take the game for a spin, they will get an immersive look at the unnerving world of Resident Evil 7 with help from Playstation VR. Those lucky enough to snag one of the 190 daily tickets for the demo will enter a decorated and darkened room, don the virtual reality headset and plunge into “The Kitchen.”
Where to find it: Brave the demo in Comic-Con’s exhibition hall. There are only 190 tickets daily, so head to the Capcom booth early.

Splatoon

Take control of an Inkling, a character that’s part kid and part squid, and use special ink weapons to make a bigger mess than your opponents. The game was released for the Wii U last year, so if you or the kids loved it, you can pick the game up on your way home
Where to find it: Take Splatoon for a spin at the Nintendo booth in the exhibition hall or in the Play Nintendo Family Lounge at the Marriott Marquis San Diego Marina.
Here are some other games you can play in the convention hall: Dead Rising 4, Dragonball Xenoforce 2, Hex, Monster Hunter Generations, Street Fighter 5, Castle Crashers, Pit People, Battleblock Theater, Back Off Barbarian and PAC-MAN, the Championship Edition.
